Nails done. Hair done. Everything did.

Hey guys!!! It’s finally here.  The Proper Pinwheel has a new look.  This new site has been in the works for a while and I’m so glad to finally share it with you.  We gots a makeover.

I’m happy to say that this is MUCH more interactive than the tumblr you’ve come to know and love. If this is your first time visiting, read all the info below and have some fun poking around the blog! If you’re not new, and you just feel it in your gut that you can navigate through without any problems, scroll to the bottom of this post to learn about the amazing designer who helped make this project come to life!

Let’s have a few lessons, shall we?

Tabs. Who doesn’t love ‘em? These are pretty self-explanatory. You can learn a little more about me and this blog on the about page. Check out a ridiculously cute cake on the events page. And send me a message via the contact page!

The sidebar to your right takes you to a number of places. Click on each little bubble to visit The Proper Pinwheel on other social platforms. Yes, there is even a Facebook page. I didn’t want to create one until now. I wanted it all to be uniform with some graphics. So head on over there and like if you like! When this blog is updated, you’ll know in your Facebook feed.

Below those cute lil’ social bubbles, is an even cuter box! Click on the box to subscribe to The Proper Pinwheel. You can add it to any type of reader you use so you’re always up to speed. Staying updated is the new black. And isn’t that bunting just amazeballs?!?

When on the home page, you’ll notice different posts on the left. Click the title of the post you would like to read or leave a comment on. You’ll be taken to the individual post’s page and will be able to read everything and leave a comment at the bottom of that post.

**Notes on commenting**

The last blog was a little difficult to comment on. I was using Disqus which required a few extra steps. It was a little bit of a hassle. If you commented on the old blog, your comments will appear on the new site soon.

It’s MUCH easier to comment now. Just click the individual post, scroll to the bottom and you’ll see this:

It’s SUPER easy to leave a comment. Just enter your name, email, and website/blog (if you have one, but it’s not required). Type in your message, click “Submit” and Bam! Commenting was never easier.

You can also share these posts any which way your heart desires. FB it. Tweet it. Pin it. Just click these little icons shown above and you’ll find what’s right for you. :)

1. You can pick and choose the type of posts you’d like to read. They’re categorized so, for example, if you want to read all of my past tutorials, click TUTORIALS!

2. Search bar to search the blog. Type in any word and the search engine will pull up posts that mention that specific subject.

3. Go through past archives and see older posts. Like this one. Or this one!

A little lower on the sidebar to your right, you’ll see the blogroll. This will be changing constantly. I not only have “Design Loves”, but I have some “Wedding Loves”, “Party Loves”, “Lifestyle Loves”, and “Baking Loves”. Keep your eye out for those little gems.

Wowza! Information overload. Hopefully you understood everything I said! I’m super new at this so we’ll be learning together. Because it’s so new, a few glitches are to be expected. Things will constantly be changing and getting better. I welcome any and all feedback! Just drop me a line!

Now, let’s talk about the designer who helped make this all possible. Joy Laforme is a super accomplished designer who I feel is my twin and we were separated at birth. You guys, I really do.  She was sooooo patient and tolerated me when I was averaging 7+ emails daily.

She has loved design from a very young age. Her shop, Sage & Berries, is just blowing up right now. She designs fabric, stationary, accessories for apple products, and also has a pretty amazing blog.  The girl does it all.

She and I met through Alt. We didn’t go, but we happened to take a few of the same online classes and just clicked. She’s definitely a designer to follow. Her aesthetic is very refreshing and she’s super sweet. You can’t help but want to be  her best friend.

Thank you, Joy, for all of your help and hard work! And thank you, readers, for making this possible! You push me to create and grow and I’m forever grateful!

Thanks, Dene! It was super fun getting to customize everything the way I wanted it to be. I was using Tumblr in the past and it was super limited. It was hard to get creative with so many boundaries. Not anymore though!

BTW – I LOVE your new pet, Riley. He looks like a little lion!!!

      • So much fun! It makes me want to do mine too…but i’m going to wait until it’s a bit more established first. Thanks for the kind words about Riley, he’s the sweetest little guy. Love him so much! xo

  2. [...] I want you to know about Alt. And I want you to take some of their classes. Because I want what’s best for you. They’re at all hours of the day and well worth it. They’re super affordable, and you don’t have to get all dressed up for a class if you don’t want to. I usually plop down on the couch with a box of jelly-filled doughnuts and go to town. There’s usually a Diet Coke involved, too. Again – totally not getting any kind of incentive for writing this. Alt is just so great! One of the classes I took introduced me to Joy! [...]
