Inspiration: Everybody Likes To Party
**This post is filled with hyperlink goodness**
I received a message from Haley. Haley’s in a fix. Here’s what she said:
I need some help with my friend’s wedding shower. It will be the first part of May so I need to get going! My color inspiration is from this post: http://somewheresplendid.com/2012/01/30/partying-pretty-january-30-2012/. I love all that you do and need some help putting a shower in those colors together. Any way you could send me some links to your favorite places to get decorations (I’m not very crafty) or send some ideas my way? I’m thinking of doing desserts and lemonade/water for drinks. I love that you used mason jars and paper striped straws for the owl baby shower you threw. Really my mind is going in a million directions and I need help narrowing everything down so it looks put together like all of your parties. This will be the first party I’ve thrown on my own so I’m a little freaked out! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is Haley’s inspiration:
Gorgeous, no? These colors are perfect for a spring shower. Peach and Mint also happen to be two of my favorite colors. It’s meant to be, I tell you!
Haley, you’re already lightyears ahead because you have a color scheme. I usually start by picking out an invitation. Paper Culture is one of my go-to’s for anything paper. They are currently having a sale right now. $25 off $75+. Get some invites. Get some stationary. Get something. You won’t regret it. Here is one invite that I love and think has some to die for colors.
Once you have your invite picked, it’s easy to narrow colors and decor. Flowers are a must for spring. You can buy real, or make your own. I have always been in love with paper decorations and I believe that the more there are, the better.
Pinwheels stole my heart long ago (obvi, look at the blog’s name!). They’re extremely easy to make and are definitely show stoppers when there’s an entire wall devoted to them. It’s pretty much accordion folding for days. Here is a step-by-step tutorial. Head to Michaels or any local craft store and gather up some paper in peach and mint and start folding! Enlist your mother, sisters, and friends for help. Some of the best memories are made when slaving over paper crafts.
The photo above is for a shower I put on last year. Mason jars are a unique touch to any event. They can be customized with ribbon or, in this case, cute stripey straws. Shop Sweet Lulu has a huge selection and it’s growing by the minute! This shop has everything one could ever need to put on a fantabulous partay. I’ve been known to throw one or two themed around one decoration I purchased from here. I have a sickness. I mean, for the love!?!?!?
Now, let’s talk about cake stands. They are the funnest way to display treats. I love to collect them. There are so many to choose from and they come in pretty much every color of the rainbow. Antique stores, Craigslist, TJ Maxx, Ross, and Home Goods are all excellent places to scour for the ever popular cake plate. Amazon has the BEST deals. Sign up for Amazon Prime and you have free two day shipping right thur.

These types of cake stands can be found on Amazon IF YOU’RE LUCKY. If you have the same stroke of luck as I, then look no further than My Sweet and Saucy. I’m currently drooling over this collection. Display cookies, cupcakes, or a collection of different sized bundt cakes. The cake stand will do all the work.
I use a lot of the same plates and dishes for parties. Target has excellent white dishes that can be used with any color scheme. Plates. platters, and bowls are always a must. Some of my favorites can be found here.
Pinterest is a great source for food and other projects. I have an entire board dedicated to food. 99.9% of that food is dessert. Click to see all of my inspiration boards.
Throwing a party can be daunting to some, but if you are inspired by anything, it can be one of the funnest things you do! Round up your friends and have them help with the prep. It’s a party!
