DIY Let It Snow Garland
This project is part of The Proper Pinwheel’s holiday series, Mission: Merry 2012.
I honestly wouldn’t care if our entire house was covered with garlands. I love ‘em. I even have a board dedicated to garlands. The thing I love about this one is that you don’t need to follow a template. This Let It Snow Garland took about 15 minutes to make and it was hanging on the mantle before lunch. My kind of project. Don’t worry if you don’t like your handwriting. Just write it out in all caps!
To make your own LET IT SNOW garland you’ll need:
- 6 large sheets of red cardstock
- pencil for tracing
- scissors
- baker’s twine
- assorted jingle bells
- mini clothespins
- fake snow (dollar store!)
Write out all of your letters and cut them out. I was able to fit almost two letters on each sheet of paper. Spray the tops of letters with some fake snow from the dollar store. I love that stuff. It’s all over our fake trees. It cost $1. I love that stuff.
Once the snow is dry, attach letters to baker’s twine with the clothespins. Hang over your mantle or on your wall with some washi tape (of course!) and enjoy all year long. I’m thinking of making one that says “Wards Are Winners” and leaving it up all year for everyone to see. We’re winners, people…
If you didn’t know, we love garlands around here. Check out the other garland for Mission: Merry 2012 – A DIY Santa & Reindeer Garland!

I am having a fabulous holiday giveaway right here.
LOVE this!! So simple, modern, pretty. Just stumbled on your blog through pinterest and I’m really liking what I see! Excited to dig a bit in the archives ;)
So simple and cheerful! Love it!
Okay, I have to say that I love the “Wards are Winners” idea — everyone needs some positive reinforcement all year long! I have an “Oh Joy” bunting from Minted, which I may just leave up all year too, since it includes my name and makes me oh-so-happy whenever I look at it. :) Love this idea, Lexy!
Thanks, Joy! I definitely think you need to keep that Minted bunting up all year long. I wish my name was Joy. It’s so pretty! And sweet! I’m jealous right now… :)
Found your blog on pinterest, super cute! I’d love to know where you got your chairs or if you know the brand I’m on the search to find the mate to mine!
Hi Amber! So glad you found me! The chairs belong to my friend! She actually got them off Craigslist in Utah. I think she paid, like, $80 for the pair. Can you believe that?!?!
